《半月谈》系列刊物被誉为"中华第一刊"，创刊于1980年5月，是中宣部根据新时期加强基层思想政治工作的需要，委托新华社主办的，面向广大基层读者的重要党刊。发行量一直居全国时政期刊之首。《半月谈》长期坚持"时事政策顾问，学习生活益友"的办刊宗旨，以时事政策讲解为中心，以基层治理和教育改革为支点，精准定位"面向基层"，进一步突出讲解员特色、突出基层创新发现、突出建设性舆论监督报道。截止至2024年，《半月谈》的总发行量已超过360万份，为中国时政报刊之首。
